My Creative Space

One of my New Year resolutions was to try to improve my crochet skills. Being a leftie, I’ve always struggled with my crochet. I have discovered that Youtube is a terrific resource – there are quite a few very helpful video tutorials there for left-hand crochet beginners like me. Anyway, this is currently occupying my creative space right now.

It’s the crocodile stitch and this is the beginning of a scarf or maybe a neckwarmer. Probably the latter since it's shorter than a scarf! It took me a while to get started and to figure out the instructions. Five days on and I’ve only managed this much ...

My crochet has always been painfully slow. I’ll get there in the end.

Have a creative day, friends.

  1. Ady, it looks fantastic! Even if it's slow going, your stitches are very even and it's worth going slowly to get that right. Love the plm colour yarn too!

  2. That looks really neat. And I thought knitting had all the cool stitches. My grandma (righty) tried to teach me (lefty)to crochet when I was little. I have finally figured it out in my own way, but I am slow too. But will always be faster than others who haven't learned how yet.

  3. May I make a suggestion? I too am a leftie, very much a leftie in that my right hand is almost redundant! I learnt to crochet right handed, never even tried it left handed, and you know - it's easy. Perhaps worth a try? Having said that, your crocodile stitch looks fantastic!
