I'm still working on my chain maille. The creative space was cleared of one sewing project (see here) and then it was right back to the pliers and a gazillion little metal jump rings. This is the latest 'in progress' project.
It's another Vertebrae Weave chain - this time it's being constructed from gold coloured anodized aluminium and stainless steel rings in 2 different sizes. I wanted to see if stainless steel made for a sturdier chain. This puppy is tough! The stainless steel does make the chain stronger but boy, stainless steel is hard to work with! This one will hopefully be a necklace with a focal hammered silver ring in the middle. I haven't found the right sized ring yet but at the slow rate this one is progressing (good closures are so hard to achieve in the stainless steel), I'll have plenty of time to look for the right ring.

Have a creative day, friends.
Really 'interesting' and beautiful chain! Eva
ReplyDeleteGreat chain ... I can imagine those jump rings must be tough to open and close!!
ReplyDeleteWow that looks great, fiddly work I bet!
ReplyDeleteThat's impressive. I could never get close to doing something like that.
ReplyDeleteWhat a huge amount of work it looks just amazing !
ReplyDeleteI've just been looking through your chain maille projects and whilst they look really complicated and time consuming I am tempted to give it a try. There's a book in my cupboard which has instructions ( which I gave up on a couple of years ago ) It looks so effective though that I might just try again. I'll link back to you as my inspiration if I produce anything worth showing.
